Shooting Star

(Scott Cornwell)
Shooting Star

You think about the things that happened yesterday
And you worry bout the things that you did or didn’t say.
Is it too late to take back what’s already done?

At night your second thoughts come rushing back to you
In restless dreams of things that you did or didn’t do
Is it too late to take back what’s already gone?

When the morning comes will it all fade away?
Or will the dreams of the night be real today?

We’ve got one more chance to make it right,
I see one more shooting star tonight.

We’re taking sides over something someone said so long ago
Somebody’s pride was wounded and they just can’t let it go
Is it too late to take back what’s already done?

How many towers that we build have to fall, turning daylight into night?
How many soldiers have to answer to the call, how long do we have to fight,
Before we can hope for peace to come?

When the morning comes is there anything we’ve learned,
Or is the way of war the only way to turn?

We’ve got one more chance to make it right.
I see one more shooting star tonight.
And when one more chain can be released
It’s just one more chance to live in peace,
Live in peace.
